The Sublime

There is so much beauty for us to feast our eyes on.  We are very fortunate, indeed.  Every now and then there is an image that leaves a lasting impression on me; an architectural beauty that I will never tire revisiting.

Ahhhh…and then…the film.  It is exquisite…a must see.  If you decide to watch, and I hope you do, please use your full screen.

Full Circle(s)

I am taking a couple of days away due to my move.

It is with great delight that I introduce my tumblr friend, remash, to you.  My day is not complete without visiting his inspiring site.  Beauty, vision, edge, are words that come to mind when thinking of his work.  When you have time, stop by remash.  Enjoy…

Roughly a year ago a sculpture/ tower/ climbing toy I designed and built was featured by Arch DailyContemporist and a number of the other design sites.  I was surprised by the response and curious about who was interested.  While searching, a few sites and names repeatedly popped up.  One site that stood out was cabbagerose, another was tumblr.  Little did I know that the two go hand in hand.  Nor did I know that I’d start my own blog just months later as a result of my curiosity.  I was a stranger in a strange land.  Now a year later, here I am, a guest in the house of ‘rose.  It’s funny how things work out sometimes isn’t it?  Cheers + well met.

Jen’s Loft1/Anima

Chuck Choi has photographed Jen’s Loft1 by Anima.  This 2,000 sqf renovation of a former garment factory floor in New York’s Lower East Side serves as a casual 1-bedroom loft apartment for the owner, and a place to entertain and relax.  Inspired by the rustic materials in the previous manufacturing space , the aesthetics of the loft combines rough and simple materials with bold industrial objects and colors.  Linger in each room and soak up the details.  I’m crazy about Jen’s loft.

Time Out

Let’s have lunch!  We are headed to Caesar’s Palace Chinese restaurant,  Beijing Noodle No. 9.  Design Spirits created a magical, modern space for this yummy restaurant…with a beautiful goal in mind, creating a space, “gently covered in light though a silk-like skin.” This interior is certainly something to be marveled at…sparkling aquarium tanks, elegant layered patterns on a double-wall design, glossy finishes and just that extra amount of “glow” that makes the restaurant stand out from any other.  Now, what shall we order?

Inquiring Minds Want to Know…

So why do architects wear black? In a neat little notebook, bound of course in black, Cordula Rau has collected the answers to this question given by 100 architects and designers, acquiring in the process an impressive collection of signatures.

I’m Moving

I am completely taken with this residence.  Palm Beach Residence is the work of Australian interior design firm, Ara Design Studio. I love the comfortable, casual feel found here.  Wood, shades of blue and green, a special door, stone, bath with garden view, and a well-appointed chunky quartz crystal all lead me to the same conclusion…I want to move into this house…

Trey Jordan Architecture

Happy Sunday.  What are you up to today?  I have been enjoying visiting a few of my favorite blogs.  Usually, along the way a bit of magic happens.  I began at La Boheme, was led to Meta Musings, and once there was introduced to Santa Fe based Trey Jordan Architecture.   The rest is history…magic.

Time Out

Can you manage to slip away for a cup of coffee?  I happened upon the perfect spot.  We’ll meet at Lady M Cake Boutique in NYC by Sam Trimble.  This gorgeous boutique bakery is between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue.  Dressed in white, glass, and marble; and wearing silver as an accessory, Lady M Cake Boutique is an inviting and elegant venue to enjoy coffee and dessert.
