Time Out…
…a textured backdrop of brickwork, concrete, plaster, and moldings…oh my! Off we go to visit renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s newest culinary destination in Shanghai. Situated within the prestigious Three on the Bund, Neri & Hu’s design is drawn from the rich historical context of its locale.
Time Out…
…oh my goodness…time to pour a pisco sour…this is going to be an amazing adventure. We arrive in Iquitos, Peru…gateway to the Amazon. Aqua Expeditions will be guiding us on our exploration of the Amazon, onboard a luxurious riverboat, the Aria.
Designed by Peruvian architect Jordi Puig, the MV Aria, constitutes one of the two uber-luxury boats that sail down the Amazon. With 16 suites, it is like floating 5-star luxurious hotel with panoramic views……onboard, it’s all about attention to detail and the provision of high-end services including a doctor and emergency medical care and security…
…onboard the Aria are biologists who have grown up around the Amazon and they are very enthusiastic in sharing all their knowledge with the guests onboard…
…the Aria features a lounge area with a library and comfy sofas, a small exercise/massage room, dining room and a beautiful sun-deck with a Jacuzzi ideal for chilling or stargazing on a clear night…
…culinary feasts even for the most demanding foodies, are perfectly complemented with a selection of fine wines and cocktails. Peru’s star chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino – of Malabar fame – creates the daily menu…
…tomorrow, the adventure begins anew…

Omoshiroi-ne…
…omoshiroi-ne means ‘how clever’ in japanese…Leo Tatemichi, architect and owner of Pompon Cakes, is indeed clever. Using his mother’s recipes, Tatemichi opened his bakeries two years ago. He was inspired by his travels through the U.S. by street vendors. “It looked like so much fun, so I wanted to bring that warm and inviting spirit along to Kamakura. I wanted create an environment in the urban context, where it resembled something close to a living room”…omoshiroi-ne…

The ‘Rise’ of the Designer Bakery
I think there is nothing more satisfying than warm, freshly baked bread with my cup of coffee in the morning. Is there anything more comforting and familiar than a homey loaf of bread? Now enter the ‘rise’ of cool designer bakeries. No longer do we just enjoy the taste of our baked goods, but we now are invited to also visually feast our eyes at many new bakeries. Not surprisingly, the dramatic dawn of the designer bakery took place in Milan.

Maggie Austin Cake
I like to routinely offer a treat to cabbagerose tumblr readers. It is my way of saying, ‘thank you,’ for stopping by and visiting my blog. After all, when you have a guest to your home, you offer a little something to eat, yes? In searching for sweet morsels, I was lucky to come across Maggie Austin Cake…her cakes are nothing short of inspirational, and almost too pretty to eat.
Located in the Washington DC metro area, Maggie Austin Cake offers a fresh interpretation of cake and cookie design. Exclusively custom and exquisitely tailored, Maggie Austin designs display symmetry, elegance, and sophistication with the subtle yet unmistakable mark of haute couture.
Say Cheese
Kotaro Horiuchi has completed Salon du Fromage, a small cheese boutique and restaurant located in Paris’ first androssiment. This heavenly shop does not look like the average delicatessen.
Originally built in the 18th century, the narrow two-storey structure is wrapped in a soft curvaceous wall that separates the space into intimate rooms.
Cylindrical refrigerators house some 350 varieties of cheese. Yum! Lamps, resembling cubes of cheese, hang from the ceiling, giving off a milky white glow.
The space contains a show kitchen where wine tastings and classes take place.
Fabulous.
