Soft
Meadowbrook House in Arizona by Atherton/Keener…soft minimalism. Peaceful. I like it here.
Time Out
Time to work out together at Yoga Deva (deva in Sanskrit means deity) in Gilbert, Arizona, by Blank Studio. Isn’t this the perfect venue for inward meditation and contemplation?
Shimmery
Famed restaurant MORIMOTO by Tadao Ando in New York’s meat packing district offers its patrons a zen-like serenity throughout the space. An organic ceiling resembling the raked sand of eastern sand gardens is a stunning feature. I love the shimmery effect of the ‘bottle wall’ composed of 17,400 half-liter plastic bottles filled with signature Morimoto water from Wales.
Bubbles of Dream
It is a long weekend; time for relaxation, and I would love to be visiting Spa Furama. Formwerkz designed a calming space without corners and ended with fluid circles. Formwerkz refers to these circles as ‘bubbles of dream.’ Perfect vision for this fab spa…

Top 100
Architect Magazine‘s third-annual ranking of the top 100 architecture firms surfaced not too long ago. I think it is a list worth noting. A sampling of some of my favorite firms:

100th Post! How quickly this milestone has arrived.
Thank you for visiting cabbagerose. The door is always open.
Heavenly
I have seen a few chapel renovations, and I have to say Chapel House is my favorite. You will find Chapel House in the quaint Flemish village of Bazel. I like its quirkiness. A mix of modern and vintage furniture, wonderful artwork, fabulous draperies, beautiful windows, and chunky marble all come together to sing, “Amen.”

Hiroko Koshino
I am in awe of the uber-talented Japanese fashion designer Hiroko Koshino. Hiroko is highly regarded in the fashion world as a pioneer of reinventing traditional Japanese dress. While her contemporaries favor the avant-garde, Hiroko creates wearable clothes based on ceremonial wear updated with more volume, natural materials, and assymetric designs. Her hallmark is the modern reinterpretation of the kimono as well as gorgeous textiles and prints of her own design. Hiroko paints; she owns a gallery; she is considered a master of calligraphy; and she plays the Japanese three-strings guitar. You know, I guess when you’ve got it, you’ve got it…
Tadao Ando designed Hiroko’s Tokyo home, his first private project.
Ruby Inspired
The Library resort in Koh Samui, Thailand, designed by Tirawan Songsawat sports a red swimming pool by day and by night.
The Luna2 Private Hotel
Luna2 is a private beachfront hotel in Bali, Indonesia that has been designed by American architect David Wahl, with interiors by owner and interior designer Melanie Hall.
The hotel is called “private” because they only accept one guest booking at a time for the five bedroom Richard Neutra-inspired beachfront house. If you notice, the hotel does provide a private butler; now that all t’s have been crossed and i’s have been dotted, time to pack….
