Hmmmm…

MR Architecture + Decor….a favorite.  The common denominator of their work is an  aesthetic that focuses on revealing “the poetry in the most rational approach to space, proportion, and light.”  Their work reveals a beautifully calibrated balance between form and function.  As for me, I just like what I see.  Hmmm…given the choice, which would you choose?  Upstate New York house or Soho penthouse?  Either way, it’s a win-win.

I can barely contain my enthusiasm for this fabulous Lake Shore Drive Penthouse designed by Kara Mann of Kara Mann Design in Chicago.  Her gutsy interiors re-imagine the possibilities of mixing modern with traditional.  Kara achieves a balance of edgy yet attainable design, producing interior landscapes that are both timeless and unexpected.  Oh Mann…I have a crush on you!

Flowerbox Building/Pulltab Design

New York–based Pulltab Design’s scheme for a loftlike apartment in the Flowerbox Building in the East Village integrates a vertical garden, a reflecting pool, high-polished concrete floors; materials like American black walnut, bronze, and steel; and surfaces finished in true pigment paints and high-gloss lacquer. Classic modernist pieces by Matthew Hilton, Hans Wegner, and Serge Mouille complement the coolly elegant interiors.  When may I move in?

I’m Melting

Godiva introduced not long ago the latest addition to its expansion with the shop ‘Chocoiste’ in the popular and fashionable Harajuku district in Tokyo//Japan. In order to break the generally rather conservatively designed Godiva shops, Wonderwall, the famous Japanese based interior design firm, decided to introduce a new fresh and playful design. The delicious new concept shop is simulating melting chocolate that is dripping from the ceilings and running down the walls, creating a cartoon-like sense to the interior. With that idea in mind, the shop features humorous and fun designs with literally melting chocolate where the shop’s visitors would wish for it to be real chocolate and eat it off the walls and ceilings.  Ummmm…mission accomplished.
