Reiulf Ramstad Architects: On Tour…
…as promised, a sampler of the stellar work of Reiulf Ramstad Architects (RRA). Today we are touring…I’m ready to pack my bags and bask in the beauty.
Reiulf Ramstad Architects: At Home…
…Reiulf Ramstad Architects (RRA) is an independent Oslo-based architectural firm with a high level of expert knowledge and a distinct ideology. I have been an admirer for quite a long time. Over the years RRA has produced a wide range of innovative and ground breaking projects with an exceptional variation of scale and program. Over the next several days, I plan to show you glimpses of RRA’s extensive portfolio. I’m sure you will recognize many of your favorites, as well as be delighted by projects you are not as familiar with…let’s begin with a few residential projects…
Choices, Choices…
…mountains, desert, beach, or city?
Please Stop By…
The door is always open…
Time Out…
…giddy up! We are heading to Mexico for horseback riding, rest, and relaxation. Our horses are waiting for us at El Mirador House. One of the necessary elements for a dream house of my own is a space which I can easily share with nature’s bounty of docile animals…horses, goats, sheep…and, of course, dogs. El Mirador House fits this requirement seamlessly…a forest respite created by CC Arquitectos.

Time Out…
…we are heading west to Sonoma County, California. We arrive at Hupomone Ranch and try our hand at sustainable farming and ranching…and, of course, much enjoyment and camaraderie…
The site has a wonderful balanced quality to it, and the simple grounded form of the barn is situated to compliment this setting and capture the long views to the coastal range beyond…
The light-filled living area opens up to the long view south and gathers the bedrooms and kitchen to either side. (Make sure you take note of the fab mirrored chest which promotes just the right sparkle)…
The kitchen has slide away windows that open directly to the garden…
I call dibs on this bedroom, oh alright, you can have it…but really, can this room be any more perfect…
The bathroom is “oh so right” with its star-jeweled light and picture-perfect view…
Life is good! Kudos to Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects…
Spooky…
…a home on North Astor Street in Chicago is ready for Halloween…

Bathed in White…
…summer at Montauk Lake House is sure to be very enjoyable; but, wouldn’t it be fun to visit during Fall for the Thanksgiving holiday? Bathed in white and enclosed with large expanses of glass, it is certain to be bright even on the gloomiest Fall day. The view of blue will inspire…

Spring 2015…
…watch the construction team in action for Phase 2 of Sasaki‘s Chicago Riverwalk project. Due to the unusual site, construction is being executed from barges on the Chicago River, and involves workers…quite literally…walking on water. The Chicago Riverwalk is due to open in Spring 2015.
Out of the Landscape…
…rising from the terrain, we find Reykjavik House…minimalist, inviting, and toasty…yes, toasty…
…the light from Reykjavik House calls one inside…
simplicity, the indigo view, and warm wood tones makes one comfortable and toasty…yes, toasty…can you feel the warmth?…
…a beautifully designed and substantial home to shield one from the elements…the genius of Moomoo Architects.
