Time Out

Adrere Amellal is located in Siwa, Egypt, in the middle of the Sahara Desert.  Bedouin nomads are its neighbors and it is 200 miles away from the nearest town.   Constructed out of kershef, a mud and rock salt combination from the large salt lake adjacent, the hotel is a maze of corridors and rooms.   The beds, the armchairs, everything is made of kershef.  There is no electricity at the hotel and nightfall is a magical time with beeswax candles used as the only source of light.  Ready to explore?  Let’s pack our bags.

  • this is spectacular… just beautiful. What an adventure to stay in such a remote hotel!
